Profile: G1 Native Dancer #495600

Sears Special Run
#495600 Stablemate Assortment
1989

What to say about this particular model? Native Dancer has to be my all time favourite Stablemate mold; I'm not sure why exactly, it's not the most exciting or dynamic, but there's just something about it.

Anyway... This mold was my first complete conga (barring a new-plastic example of the original Native Dancer release), which wasn't too hard to do as there have only been eleven releases on this mold, twelve if you count the 1994 JCP re-release of the 1992 Sears special run separately.

A 'conga' in hobby-talk refers to a collection of multiple examples of one mold, which when seen standing together on a shelf looks a lot like a conga line. A person would usually say they have a 'complete conga' when they have one of each release of a particular mold. Super-rare special runs can cause a good bit of hair-pulling when you're trying to complete a conga; test runs are seen as more of a bonus rather than something necessary to officially complete a conga. And just one more time for luck since I've said it so many times in this post...conga!
