Profile: G1 Native Dancer #711096

JCPenney Special Run
#711096 12-Piece Stablemates Set

Though this mold was sculpted as a portrait of a Thoroughbred stallion, a range of breed options are suitable. I pedigree all of my Native Dancers as Thoroughbred mares, but I've successfully shown this particular model and her palomino sister as Akhal-Teke mares.

The light Thoroughbred build is similar to that of the Akhal-Teke; unsurprisingly this desert breed played a part in the development of the English race horse. An experiment with cross-breeding in the 1930s resulted in the addition of Thoroughbred blood into the Akhal-Teke breed, but due to a perceived decline in quality due to the new blood, no crosses after 1936 were allowed, so keep that in mind if you're into pedigree-ing.

As with all showing, it depends on what else is on the table and the opinion of the judge, but if you're looking for something a little different to do with your Native Dancer, give the 'Teke a try.
