The big three stock breeds - Appaloosa, American Paint Horse, and American Quarter Horse - all have a subset of stock which are bred for racing. The Quarter Horse especially has it's roots in racing as its name indicates, the 'quarter' being the quarter mile this breed was known for covering at blistering, unbeatable speeds.

Like our special run blanket appaloosa Swaps above, race-bred stock horses tend to be a bit lighter and more 'Thoroughbred' in build than their general performance and (especially) halter horse counterparts. For live showing you might want to mention appy Swaps is a race-fit three year-old Appaloosa of racing bloodlines. A picture of a racing appaloosa might be useful with your explanation if you're in a region which may be unfamiliar with racing stock horses, or American stock breeds in general.
