From the beginning, the G1 Thoroughbred foal had a touch of hover-hoof going on with that near-hind leg. With early models the gap was quite small, but with time it increased until the last runs produced on this mold looked like they were trying to keep an injured hoof off the ground.

It's a bit difficult to see in these pictures, but #5982 is a lovely example of the countershading often seen on young foals. Thought to have evolved as a form of camouflage, many foals exhibit what are often mistaken as dun characteristics - a dorsal stripe and sometimes leg barring. The majority of these foals are not dun and the back and leg shading disappears when the foal coat is shed.
